Where: Deer Creek Golf & Banquet Facility When: April 26, 2012 Time: Reception at 6:30 p.m., Dinner at 7:30 p.m. The Tribute to Our Troops dinner provides members of the community with an opportunity to express their appreciation for the commitment and personal sacrifice made by Canada’s brave men and women in uniform. For generations the Canadian Armed Forces have helped to preserve peace around the world, defend our borders here at home and come to the aid of citizens who have been impacted by natural disasters. This event also allows the community to celebrate the troops of the Durham Region based Ontario Regiment and to raise funds for The Ontario Regiment Foundation. The Foundation sets up programs for soldiers and their families such as Post Secondary Bursaries, Post Secondary Scholarships for their children and a Benevolent Assistance Program for individuals and families in times of need. The Troops Dinner also assists the Foundation to provide ongoing support for youth programs conducted by The Regiment’s four Army Cadet Corps and to preserve our proud heritage by supporting the Regimental Museum. In 2011 the event raised approximately $60,000.
